Nearly 2,000 diverse young women from the southwest of Colombia, specifically from Nariño and Cauca, have joined together to strengthen women’s leadership in urban-rural and indigenous civic spaces for peace-building, as a contribution to conflict transformation and territorial peace-building, based on the introduction of innovative elements that privilege their knowledge, experiences, practices, and forms of organization and participation.
This is an initiative led by SISMA MUJER, ONU Women, IOM and the Ombudsman’s Office, financed by the United Nations Fund in Colombia.
From Pataleta this project we made a series of Infographics and Graphic Comics of the activities carried out in each of the municipalities:
CAUCA
Name of the activity: Exchange of experiences among diverse young women in urban-rural and indigenous civic spaces in Santander de Quilichao and Popayán.
These products represent the exchange of experiences and the sharing of the most significant actions that women have been carrying out in the framework of the whole process, emphasizing protection, self-protection and self-care for the strengthening of their leadership and organizational processes.

CREATION PROCESS
- Pataleta accompanied the Sisma team in each of these municipalities with graphic recording.
- We developed templates to be used by the team of facilitators to help with the concretization of the topics and thus obtain the inputs for the graphic pieces.
- We made a content proposal that was reviewed and approved by the participating organizations.
- The products were produced with monitoring, revisions and adjustments by the Sisma Mujer team.

Co-creando has had a tangible impact in Colombia after one year of implementation. Women who have participated in this training have been able to expand their presence in various formal spaces, such as gender and youth mechanisms, Women’s Citizen Councils, Culture Councils, Community Action Boards, Community Councils and environmental coordinations and more, thus strengthening women’s leadership in civic spaces for peace building.
