Attending an international event (such as UN forums or technology summits) can be overwhelming. Many organizations and young people arrive with great ideas, but without a clear roadmap on how to navigate the event, who to talk to, or how to ensure their message reaches decision-makers.
The Center for Sustainable Development Goals (CODS) at the University of the Andes, together with the DHRP consortium, already had a powerful methodology in place: a toolbox to guide teams through the entire life cycle of an event.
They created the content, documents, and theoretical structure. The challenge? They needed to ensure that all this knowledge did not remain in separate files. They needed a user-friendly, visual, and navigable experience within their digital ecosystem.
That’s where Pataleta.net came in to take care of two fronts: visual identity (illustrations) and complete technological implementation.

Our mission was to translate CODS’s academic concepts into accessible visual language. Although the documents (Word and PDF files) were prepared by the research team, we created the graphic universe that accompanies the user on their journey.
We designed the illustrations that identify each phase of the cycle:
1. Before the event: Preparation

The phase for “packing your strategic suitcase”: defining objectives, mapping out the key players you want to talk to, and preparing your agenda.
2. During the event: Action

The design here focused on immediacy: How to read the space? How to network authentically? We even included visualizations on self-care during intense days, something that is rarely depicted in these kits.
3. After the event: The Harvest

The event doesn’t end when the lights go out. We created illustrations that represent the systematization of what was learned, follow up on contacts, and “download” the information to local teams.
These images are not just decorative; they serve as visual guides so that the user can intuitively understand what stage of the process they are in.
The Web Solution: Custom UI Design and Implementation
This project was an interesting technical challenge. It was not just a matter of “uploading content,” but of designing and building an interface that would work within the client’s existing infrastructure.

Our web developer led the entire process:
- Interface Design (UI): We proposed a clean visual navigation that would integrate harmoniously with the CODS website.
- WordPress Implementation: We worked directly on the client’s CMS. Without the need for external equipment, we adapted the existing modules and used custom code to achieve the exact functionality required by the Kit.
- Technical Autonomy: From initial access to final publication, we managed the construction of the site, ensuring that the methodology was 100% navigable.
User-Centered Design

Each phase has its own icons, color codes, and downloadable resources (templates and checklists). At Pataleta, we made sure that navigation was intuitive: the user knows exactly where they are in the event and what tool they need to take out of the “box.”
We transformed the anxiety of participating in an international event into a visual step-by-step work plan.
